Our clinic is actively developing medical tourism and accepting patients from around the world for treatment. In recent years, thanks to the successful work of our doctors and the organization of patient support services for patients from other countries, we have seen an increase in the number of international patients coming to us on the recommendation of family and friends.
Myriam, a young woman from Algeria, was just such a tourist. Realizing that she needed only highly qualified medical care, she came to the V.M. Buyanov City Clinical Hospital.
Several years ago, she discovered a hernia in her anterior abdominal wall, which had significantly enlarged over time. The hernia not only dramatically altered her appearance but also caused pain, significantly limiting her physical activity. She was extremely concerned about the outcome of her upcoming surgery, especially because she was planning to become pregnant in the near future.
Doctors from the gynecology and surgical departments developed a treatment plan for Myriam, taking into account her desire to become a mother for the second time. During the preoperative examination, in addition to a large linea alba hernia, the patient was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and diastasis recti. Surgeons simultaneously repaired both hernias and closed the diastasis recti. The surgery was performed using endoscopy using the extended totally extraperitoneal Rives-Stoppa technique.
Now the woman feels great and is preparing to return home to her family and fulfill her dream of becoming a mother for the second time!
This technique involves endoscopic extraperitoneal (outside the abdominal cavity) creation of the retromuscular (behind the rectus abdominis muscles) space, followed by placement of a polypropylene mesh implant.
Surgeons highlight a number of advantages of this technique:
